![]() Honestly, I'm not sure what to put in the yawn slot, I had toxic but I could also run roar, which serves a similar function to yawn. I usually just use flip turn to gain momentum on the switch, but if their team is stealth rock weak I will gladly rock up. Swampert serves as a nice defensive pivot, electric immunity, stealth rocker, and physical wall. Since I have no real wallbreakers on this team, Urshifu-R is the closest I can get to that, while still serving as a sweeper. Urshifu-R can absolutely destroy neutral bulkier mons with surging strikes under rain. Anyways, choice banded Urshifu-R hits like a truck. Now that the meta has changed, they are giving it a chance again, but if it gets banned (doubtful) I will just put Kingdra in since it is also pretty decent on rain. In fact, it was banned in DLC 1 due to the sheer strength of surging strikes in rain. This is very useful for positioning my team members in a way that is favorable, as well as slowly chipping away at walls.Įveryone is always talking about Urshifu-S, but Urshifu-R is also very powerful, especially in monotype. By the way, 5/6 of my team members have some move like flip turn, where you gain momentum by using it. Psychic fangs and crunch are there for coverage, like hitting pex and psychic + ghost types. On top of that, choice banded liquidations and flip turns hit super hard under rain. With it's already incredible base speed, it is basically impossible to go faster while rain is active. Scald is a good move to have, roost is also nice if I don't want to sack it yet, u-turn is nice to safely get in my sweepers, and defog is my removal on the team.īarraskewda is a newly added Pokemon to gen 8, but it has already proven itself to be one of the best rain sweepers. I have heavy sdpef investment so that I can live strong hits on both sides, as Pelipper is already physically bulky. I have seen people run scarf, but I think being able to switch in on hazards without taking lots of damage is very nice, and so is switching moves. ![]() In monotype, damp rock is banned (for good reason), so I put HDB instead. Pelipper is basically required on every water rain team, since Politoed is. It does seem to have trouble breaking through some walls, like pex and ferrothorn, but I have found that I can out-stall them. The defensive core of Swampert, Slowking, and Toxapex is near unbreakable, and with rain up, Barraskewda and Urshifu can put a lot of pressure on the enemy team. I opted for a combination of the offensive rain teams and the bulkier stall teams that you see in the water type, and came up with this. This is due to rain being so strong, but also for the extremely bulky Pokemon that exist in the water type. Water is one of the best types in monotype, alongside steel and flying. With it's great attack Earthquake, Crunch and Aqua Tail can take down a great variety of Pokémon.I have posted several of these here, but this team is my favorite so far. This one just has a Toxic-Protect-Attack-Protect routine. Roserade is used as a Special Attacker (not much of a sweeper because of choice and it's offensive weakness against steel types) Takes Dragons and Flying types by surprise with Hidden Power Ice. Roserade (F) Choice Specs / Choice Scarf? I chose to use Life Orb over Choice Specs as that gives him more abilities to deal damage. Pain Split is a good way to steal some HP from his second opponent if he's fast and/or tough enough. I thought of Roserade.Īs I said Nidoking has a great variety of moves as a lead including Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes, and has also a couple of damaging moves up his sleeve with Earthquake and Sucker Punch.Īs a Physical Wall Will-O-Wisp is a very handy move as it will cut down the opponent attack. The final Pokémon would be a Special Attacker. So now I need at least a Special Wall and if possible another Special Attacker.įor the Special Wall I chose for Tentacruel, because of his decent Special Defense and a good variety of moves. So now I got Nidoking (a lead with Physical abilities), Drapion (a Physical Attacker), Weezing (a Physical wall) and Gengar (a Special Attacker). So I choose Weezing and Gengar.Ī Poison Team without Toxic Spikes is like cursing in the church (is that an English proverb? I don't know) I chose for Nidoking as he is able to learn both Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes. Two would be enough as Crobat will bring a lot of weaknesses with it's Flying type like Electric and Ice type, not to mention that he is weak to Stealth Rock. There are at least three (or eight) Poison Pokémon immune to Ground: Weezing, Gengar, Crobat and their prevolutions. Then I need a Pokémon that is immune to Ground. I chose for Drapion because he has a larger variaty of moves including Earthquake and Swords Dance. ![]() ![]() There are two Pokémon (okay three) who are immune to Psychic-type: Skuntank and Drapion (and Stunky). To make a decent poison type team I have to make sure to cover my weaknesses against Psychic and Ground types. ![]()
